CNC technician training

CNC technician training is for you who want to work with metal and computer-controlled machines. You learn to turn, mill and bore in metal and to program the machines that shape everything from the largest parts in a wind turbine to the smallest part in an engine. The training has its own regulation under the Metal Industry Training Committee.

§What do you do in everyday life?

You plan, program, and perform chip-removing machining on computer-controlled machines. You use CAD/CAM systems to create CNC programs, set up and operate the machines, and quality-check finished parts with precision measuring equipment.

• 04You learn measuring technique and quality control with calipers and micrometer.

§How do you get started?

You start with the basic course's 1st and 2nd part at a vocational school (each for 20 weeks) and continue on the main course, where you alternate between school and training in a company. You must enter an education agreement (apprenticeship) or have a school placement, and you get apprentice wages from the day the agreement comes into force.

§The way forward

As fully trained you can work in the metal industry at machine and tool companies or at large manufacturing companies. You can further educate yourself via AMU courses in among other things CAD/CAM and advanced CNC machining or build further towards technical further education.
