Further and continuing education for airport operators
What you can build on when you are skilled
When you stand with your journeyman's certificate as an airport operator you have a solid foundation — but it's also a springboard. The trade contains many directions you can turn further in and a skilled education gives access to building on if you at some point feel like something more.
§Specialization in depth
The most obvious path is to become even better at your own field. Within virtually every specialty there is further training and courses — additional certificates, new types of equipment, updated safety rules — that make you a specialist colleagues and employers turn to. Many discover they are paid better and become more indispensable the more they build on their specialty.

§Go the ladder way
With experience you can take responsibility for a team become team leader or shift leader and handle planning and coordinating the work. Here you move from executing tasks yourself to getting a team to function — and many companies look first among their own experienced skilled workers for leaders. Courses in management and working environment support that path.
§Higher education
A journeyman's certificate can also be a ticket to further studies. With a vocational education in your background you — possibly supplemented with subjects — can apply to advanced educations for example within logistics transport or management at a vocational academy. That path requires more school but it opens for jobs in planning administration and management both in and outside the airport.
§Out into the wider transport industry
Many of the competencies you gain can be used outside the airport. Experience with logistics, dangerous goods, truck and heavy traffic is in demand throughout the transport and warehouse industry. Should you at some point feel like moving away from the forecourt, you therefore do not stand on a bare foundation.

§Make a plan that suits you
There is no one right path after graduation. Some stay in the same specialty their whole working life and love it. Others collect certificates go for a leadership role or study further. What matters is that you take ownership of your own development — and use the opportunities the trade actually gives.
