Alginate impression materialUsed to take impressions of teeth and mucous membrane, from which the plaster model is then cast.

Investment (phosphate-bonded, for metal casting)Mixed to the manufacturer's water-to-powder ratio and cast around the wax pattern in a casting ring, where the investment's setting and thermal expansion must offset the alloy's shrinkage on solidification.
