Specialties, career, and ways forward

When you are fully trained as a beautician several paths open. Some choose permanent employment others start for themselves and many specialize within an area they are passionate about.

§Specialization

Many beauticians find an area they become particularly skilled in. It can be advanced facial treatments, makeup, body treatments or skin care aimed at specific skin conditions. Specialization makes you attractive and can provide better earnings.

§Becoming self-employed

If you dream of your own salon, you need to learn about economics, customer care, marketing and daily operations in addition to the professional side. Many start as employees to gain experience before starting for themselves.

§Further education and courses

You can build on your training with courses in new treatments and techniques. Some move toward teaching, management, or sales roles in the industry.
