A day in the salon

Treatments, techniques and customer contact

Introduction

As a beautician no two days are rarely alike. You meet many different customers with very different wishes and skin types and you must be able to switch between calm precision and good service throughout the day.

Skin analysis is the foundation

Almost all treatments start with you looking carefully at the customer's skin. You assess skin type, condition and any problems and you ask about skincare allergies and expectations. Only then do you choose products and method.

The typical treatments

  • 01Facial treatments with cleansing, peeling, massage, and masks
  • 02Skin analysis and advice on home care
  • 03Hair removal with wax sugaring or device treatment
  • 04Makeup for everyday and parties and occasion makeup
  • 05Body treatments such as peeling, massage and wraps
  • 06Manicure pedicure and nail treatment

Technique and hands

Many treatments require good hands and calm, controlled movements. Massage technique, correct pressure and a gentle touch make a big difference to how the customer experiences the treatment — and to the result.

Service and communication

A large part of your work is contact with the customer. You must be able to listen, ask the right questions and explain professionally without seeming condescending. Satisfied customers who feel seen come back — and that is what sustains a salon.

“You don't just sell a treatment. You sell peace of mind, care, and a good result.”
