Studiemateriale
§Study guidance — car body technician
Bodywork combines craftsmanship, material understanding and safety. You need to be able to see a damage, assess the material and choose the right method — and you need to understand that a repair is about both form and strength. Put emphasis on patience: especially paint preparation rewards care.
Important concepts to understand
- 01Deformationszoner og stiv sikkerhedskabine.
- 02Steel qualities: soft, energy-absorbing steel versus high-strength steel.
- 03Direction, banking, hammer and backing (dolly).
- 04Paint preparation: degreasing, sanding, filling, priming, masking.
- 05Welding and joining methods as well as restraint systems (harness, tensioner, airbag).
Good habits and preparation
Look up the manufacturer's repair instructions before deciding on a method. Document the damage with photos before work. Check your surface by hand, not just by eye. And prioritize your own safety: use respiratory protection, eye protection and extraction during grinding and painting.
Where can you read more
Use the school's teaching material, car manufacturers' repair instructions and products' safety data sheets as primary sources. Vocational schools' body repair programmes and industry organisations for the automotive industry publish technical guidance. The master and experienced colleagues in the workshop are an invaluable source of practical technique.
