Production time on the printing press
Hvor lang tid tager selve trykningen af oplaget på maskinen?
Answer: Selve trykketiden på maskinen afhænger af, hvor mange ark der skal køres (inkl. indkøringsspild), hvor mange gange arket skal gennem maskinen (trykgange, fx flere gange på en maskine med færre farveværk end jobbet kræver), og maskinens hastighed i ark/time. Der lægges en opstartstid til for indstilling af maskinen. Formlen følger den danske trykkeri-kalkulationsmetode, som bl.a. er beskrevet i Wikibooks' 'Kalkulation af tryksager/Trykning'.
Formula
Trykketid (timer) = (antal trykark inkl. spild × antal trykgange pr. ark) ÷ maskinens ark/time.
Total produktionstid = ren trykketid + opstart/indstillingstid. Kilde til metoden: dansk trykkeri-kalkulationspraksis (Wikibooks: 'Kalkulation af tryksager/Trykning').

Gælder ikke når
- Ark/time varierer stærkt med papirvægt, farvedækning og maskintype — fabrikanter angiver typisk 5.000–21.000 ark/time som maksimal hastighed, men den reelle 'ark på gulvet'-hastighed er ofte lavere. Brug realistiske, målte tal fra den konkrete maskine.
