§Study guide: Fine mechanics
This page brings together the most important concepts from the trade so you have them in one place when you study for an exam or need to start a task. Use it as a reference and revision.
Drawing and tolerance
- 01The drawing is the agreement: dimensions, tolerances, material, and surface.
- 02Tolerance er det tilladte spillerum — inden for = god, udenfor = kassabel.
- 03Dimensions that must match each other are checked extra carefully.
The machines
| Machine and breaks | Do what |
|---|---|
| Lathe | Rotates the workpiece — makes round, cylindrical parts |
| Milling machine | Rotates the tool — makes surfaces, grooves and edges |
| Drill | Laver huller |
| Sanding machine | Provides fine finish and smooth surfaces |
| CNC machine | Computer-controlled — precise parts repeatedly |
Måleværktøj
- 01Sliding gauge: quick measurements with good accuracy.
- 02Micrometer screw: very accurate measurements.
- 03Dial gauge and learning: control of deviations and whether measurements are within limits.
- 04Measure along the way not just at the end.
Safety with machinery
- 01No loose sleeves, jewellery or gloves near rotating parts; hair tied up.
- 02Guards on, and know the stop before you start.
- 03Stop the machine completely before you measure, remove chips or change tools.
- 04Safety glasses during processing every time.
Quality and order
- 01Measure against the tolerance and discard or correct the wrong one.
- 02Note measurements so the work can be documented.
- 03A tidy workshop is a safe and fast workshop.
“The machine repeats the movement. The measuring tool reveals the truth. It is you who binds them together into a working part.”
