How to ensure that disabled people have real access
A degree as an event coordinator is not a dead end—it's a springboard. The field has many directions to develop in, and there are several paths if you later want to continue studying. Here you get an overview of the options so you can choose with open eyes.
§Short courses and specialisation on the job
The quickest path to new knowledge is often short courses within areas you want to improve — project management, social media marketing, sound and light, safety at large events or sustainable event management. Many develop primarily by taking increasingly greater responsibility in their job and specialising in a particular type of event.
§Academy and higher education
If you want to go further at higher level, there are higher educations close to the field — for example in service, experience economy, marketing, communication or tourism. An academy education can often be taken alongside a job and builds on the practical experience you already have. It is a good way to move from coordinator toward more leading or strategic roles.

The competences from the event trade — project management, coordination, communication, budget and service — are in demand in many places. This makes it possible to move into adjacent fields such as marketing, communication, project management, tourism and experience economy without starting over. Your experience goes with you.
§Becoming self-employed
Some event coordinators end up starting their own bureau or working as freelancers. It requires that you, in addition to the trade, also understand how to run a business – customer agreements, finances, VAT and marketing yourself. Courses in entrepreneurship and business management are good preparation if that is the dream.

The most important thing is that you build development into your thinking continuously. Talk to your employer about courses keep an eye on what skills the industry needs and assess every couple of years whether you are on your way where you want to be.
