Further and continuing education – what you can build on
From skilled to academy education professional bachelor and onwards
When you are skilled you have a trade you can make a living from. But you also have a foundation you can build on if you want to specialize move up in responsibility or in a new direction. The Danish education system is built so vocational training can lead further – and your practical experience from training is a great advantage.
§Keep up to date with short courses
The first and fastest level is short courses, e.g. AMU courses, that keep your competencies sharp. They can be courses in a particular program, a new technique or a new tool. They are short, targeted and give you new papers without you having to leave the labour market for a long time.
§Academy educations
If you want to go further at a higher level, there are academy educations close to the field. One of the most obvious is multimedia designer, a short higher education that builds on what you already know and gives you more theory about design, web, concept and project work. There are also academy educations in communication and digital content production.

§Professional bachelor and further
With a multimedia designer education in hand you can often build further on a professional bachelor education for example within web development digital design or communication. That way you can gradually move from skilled to a bachelor level if you feel like more theory responsibility and breadth.
§EUX and the way forward
If you took the education as EUX, you have a gymnasium level in a number of subjects on top of your trade, and it can give you access to more higher educations. If you took the ordinary path, entrance courses or supplementary subjects can build a bridge if you later want to study further at a level that requires gymnasium subjects.
§Make a plan – but don't rush
You don't need to know now where you end up. Many first take a few years as a skilled worker, find out what interests them, and then build further when the direction is clear. What matters is knowing that the doors stand open: the certificate closes nothing – it opens.
