§Study guidance for the auto painter trade

Auto Painting is a craft where theory and practice are closely linked. You need to understand paint chemistry and layer structure, but also be able to translate it into a steady hand and a trained eye in the booth. The best learning happens when you connect what you read to what you do in the workshop.

Important concepts to master

  • 01Layer structure: primer, base coat and clear coat — and each layer's function
  • 02Pre-treatment: cleaning grinding filling and priming
  • 03The color on the device.
  • 04Water-based vs. solvent-based varnish
  • 05Typical paint defects and their causes (runs, orange peel, cratering)
  • 06Safety: respiratory protection, ventilation, fire hazard and hazardous waste

Good habits and preparation

  • 01Læs altid databladet, før du blander og sprøjter et nyt produkt
  • 02Use good time on pre-treatment — that is where the result is decided
  • 03Practice your spray gun technique on test panels, not first on the customer's car
  • 04Always check the result in good light from multiple angles
  • 05Make safety a habit, not an afterthought

Remember that the auto painter's strength is the combination of knowledge and craftsmanship. When you encounter a new product or technique, ask yourself what happens physically and chemically in the layer — it makes it both easier to remember and easier to troubleshoot when something goes wrong.
