Quality assurance (QA) — receipt, process and final inspection

The statutory documentation in BR18 chapter 35

QA is mandatory for all load-bearing and climate-screening work. Here is the three-phase model from DI Building, what is checked when, and why photo documentation of hidden structures is crucial.

Introduction

Quality assurance (QA) of load-bearing and climate-envelope structures is mandatory under BR18 chapter 35. It is not just paperwork — it is the systematic inspection that ensures the structure is built as the project requires and that errors are detected before they are hidden behind cladding and plaster.

Three control phases

The standard templates have been published by DI Construction in »KS manual for masons, carpenters, and floor layers«. The manual also contains inspection plan, organizational plan, and documentation list – available via haandvaerker.dk and danskindustri.dk.

Receiving inspection

When structural timber is delivered, the carpenter must verify: correct dimensions and grading quality, CE marking and strength grading certificate (DS/EN 14081-1—mandatory for load-bearing timber), moisture content (typically 12% ± 3% for delivery—measure with moisture meter), and that the shipment matches the project. Deviations are noted in form 2 and the supplier is contacted.
